Although true, hunters DO eat, at least the skilled ones do, my name derives from the world of horses.
And because the word hunter is in my name, people automatically think I'm a guy. Not even close.
Whenever I meet someone named Hunter I have to bite my tongue to keep from saying "That's my name, too!"

1. Long Strange Trip

What a long strange trip it’s been…so far.
Sure, Jerry Garcia was probably referencing an acid trip, but life in general is pretty trippy. I am listening to that very Grateful Dead song, Truckin’, which says, “Sometimes the cards aren’t worth a damn if you don’t lay them down.” So let’s play the hand we’re dealt. Here goes. I’m going to document my upcoming odyssey.
Quickly: my transfer to CA was a career move, meant to be temporary. After a couple of years here I decided to stay until I retired. I bought a house. Circumstances being what they are, I only spent another year and change, then retired.
I’m finishing up improvements on the house and it should be listed in another week or two. My horses, which I shipped out over the brutal summer (yay, they survived!) will have to be shipped back. I’ll have to find them a place to board until I get my place – wherever that will be.
Two dogs and a cat will be making the drive back across in my awesome Lincoln. I was going to pull a small trailer but decided to ship a pallet of personal stuff and get rid of the rest. Should be a 4day drive.
So I’m getting ready for a sale next weekend. I’ve packed my travel suitcase. I’ve got some worn out “throwaway” clothes to wear until I leave and I’ll get the clothes I’m keeping packed up with minimal housewares and paperwork. I need a “gaylord” box. FedEx will bring me one if I open a freight account.
As I write Greatful Dead music has continued to play and I have to ask…what’s the attraction? I've heard alley cats that sound better.
So there you have it. I’m scrambling to get out of Dodge. More to come.
