Going to church, reading the bible, listening to Christian music will not advance your spiritual life. These activities may give you more understanding but until you are ready to lay down your life and take up your cross this leads nowhere.

What I am talking about is the sacrifice of self to advance the cause of Jesus Christ in the world. There is a destiny that God had for each of us that only we can personally discover. We can discover it only by detaching from the world and making ourselves available for the Holy Spirit. By detaching from the world--now you have time--the commodity that most Christians are not willing to give.

Jesus said, "Self-help is not help at all. Self-sacrifice is the way, to finding yourself, your true self. (Matthew 16:25)

"God has planted eternity in the human heart." (Ecclesiastes 3:11)

"Anyone who lets himself be distracted from the work I plan for him is not fit for the Kingdom of God." (Luke 9:62)

"The most important thing is that I complete my mission, the work that the Lord Jesus gave me." (Acts 20:24)

"We have been sent to speak for Christ." (2 Corinthians 5:20)

"We are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus, to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." (Ephesians 2:10)

Life Of Faith In The Heavenward Zone

Posted 12-12-2021 at 08:13 PM by Albert Finch

Colossians 3:2: -"Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth."

God creates a new category in our thinking. It is called "Heavenly things." Then He slides new files into that folder. He gives us pictures of His heart, pictures of our DESTINY in Him, and pictures of His love, and shows us how His love flows from Him, through our heart, then into the lives of others.

He begins to show us His perspective on things. He is the lover of our soul.

RESHAPING OUR DESIRES

We can let the light of His countenance shine on us as we delight in Him.

Psalm 37:4 - "Delight yourself also in the LORD, And He shall give you the desires of your heart."

Once we get to that place of delight, the Lord extracts what is not of Him and makes a huge deposit of His desires within us. The reshaping of our values and our desires is the key work of the Holy Spirit. This reshaping brings us into conformity and harmony with God's PURPOSE for our life.

We have many concerns that have the potential to compromise our heavenward pursuit.

Matthew 13:22 - ".... the worries about this life and the love for riches choke the message, and they don't bear fruit."

All the things that we think are important or even the things other people tell us are important makes us wonder--"Just how important are they?" -- Are they really important? Most of them probably are not but are just anxious thoughts that are sabotaging our spiritual life in Christ. You cannot retire too much from the mindless chatter of the world. You don't need much time to tell God that you love Him! Lift your heart to Him. Worship Him in the depths of your spirit.

HIS PRESENCE RE-ORDERS OUR THINKING

We have many concerns and many thoughts that should have been taken captive but were not (2 Corinthians 10:5, Matthew 6:31). But when we enter into that place of His Presence, He begins to re-order our thinking Heavenward. Most of the earthly stuff moves into the unimportant category.

Oh, how the Lord longs for His church to receive a revelation of His ravished heart - utterly overwhelmed with delight for us - even though we may not like or believe in ourselves. (Psalm 45:11)

If we want to be co-laborers with Jesus, fulfilling His PURPOSE for our life, we must step out of the comfort zone and move into the life of faith where our only source is the invisible God and the integrity of His word. He said we cannot be His disciples if we don't do this.

"If anyone wishes to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me." - Luke 9:23
