Going to church, reading the bible, listening to Christian music will not advance your spiritual life. These activities may give you more understanding but until you are ready to lay down your life and take up your cross this leads nowhere.

What I am talking about is the sacrifice of self to advance the cause of Jesus Christ in the world. There is a destiny that God had for each of us that only we can personally discover. We can discover it only by detaching from the world and making ourselves available for the Holy Spirit. By detaching from the world--now you have time--the commodity that most Christians are not willing to give.

Jesus said, "Self-help is not help at all. Self-sacrifice is the way, to finding yourself, your true self. (Matthew 16:25)

"God has planted eternity in the human heart." (Ecclesiastes 3:11)

"Anyone who lets himself be distracted from the work I plan for him is not fit for the Kingdom of God." (Luke 9:62)

"The most important thing is that I complete my mission, the work that the Lord Jesus gave me." (Acts 20:24)

"We have been sent to speak for Christ." (2 Corinthians 5:20)

"We are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus, to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." (Ephesians 2:10)

Hearing From God

Posted 12-22-2021 at 09:52 PM by Albert Finch

"Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee...." - 1 Timothy 4:14

For too long, Christians have been motivated by guilt, instead of responding to the unction of the Holy Spirit. As each of us yields to what God has CALLED us to be, then God will bring each part to fulfillment.

"be thou a partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God; Who hath saved us and called us with a holy CALLING..." - 2 Timothy 1:8,9

In prayer, New Covenant Christians can press into God and 'see' into the eternal realm. This unseen realm is where God reveals His will and shows us how to pray and what to pray for.

FAITH IS TAKING INITIATIVE

We must keep in mind that the Holy Spirit is the "Helper," not the "Doer." He will not do anything without us, and we should not want to do anything without Him. Faith is basically the willingness to take initiative even when you may not know the exact outcome. Faith is the bridge between the eternal (the unseen) and the temporal (the seen). By meditating and confessing the Word we can cross that bridge and see as God sees.

This is why true faith is faith in the Person we put our trust in. We must seek to simply do God’s purpose for our life, living out the vision God has put in our heart. Results can be very different than we're expecting. The same miracle that has a great impact in one place may not have any in another place, just as we see in the Lord's own ministry.

You may be thinking that you would love to be able to hear clearly from the Lord and touch other people. The truth is you can, and you possibly already do but just don't realize it. We get impressions from the Lord but think they are our own imagination, or something else, and don't act on them. Many realize they have been hearing from Him for a long time but do not recognize Him. We can STIR UP our spiritual consciousness. Every Christian has the ability to know the voice of the Lord.

EXPECTATION IS THE KEY

Expectation pulls virtue out of God because one of the foremost keys in hearing from God is living with expectation toward Him. Expectation places a demand on the Holy Spirit. He is willing to commune and speak to us every moment of our lives and He is as close as our own breath.

Do you want to hear from God? Live with expectation. Pray with expectation. Listen with expectation. You WILL hear His voice.
