Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

Lubbock's Hotel Mystery And Suspense Deepens

Posted 12-29-2022 at 07:51 PM by case44

A few days ago, I uncovered what had been a mystery on the Lubbock hotel landscape, and that might actually come to fruition once again. I shared in my recent Scattershooting about Downtown Lubbock plans for a convention center hotel and the possibility of it being back on after visiting the backburner.

Well, a local hospitality and planning website from the Hub City now shows that another project may possibly be on again. The TAJ website is shedding light on something which even Lubbock In The Loop isn't doing right now (but previously did). Before I spit it out, here's the website below from their eyes to yours.

https://tajhospitality.com/coming-soon/

You see, it was to be a Sheraton hotel in West Lubbock, presumably off of State Loop 289 near 34th Street in the West End district. For whatever reason, the twelve-story project got put on hold. It appears TAJ is saying that that one is now back on, but no immediate details were given. Since it said west side and convention center, it is assumed that Sheraton may be back in play, and that franchise is no slouch. Sheraton is known for stylish hotels built for convention-goers. A few years ago, one had been planned to go in Lubbock's West End. I even thought that it had a chance, what with all of the other plans for that complex falling into place. At present, it remains on hold.

Mystery. Suspense. Boris Karloff, it ain't. This, you can count on, however, and that's Lubbock never lacks for keeping people on pins and needles. And lots of wondering.
