My Daily Life and Thoughts while in San Diego | List of Best Posts
This blog is where I express myself to the world or at least to those who might stop by to read what I post . Maybe God will use what I post (I am a Christian and this blog will have a most decidedly Christian bent to it) to good effect in the lives of my readers.

I may turn some of my posts into a book. I may cease blogging here altogether. Who knows. But for now..I am content to post away in this, my own little corner of the world.

Rather than reading through my now lengthy list of posts you may wish to read what I consider to be my very best posts or you can just read the posts that deal with a single subject category that might interest you.

Please know that I am open to any input on any topic I write about. If you have something to say about anything you see written here please....feel free to speak up in the form of leaving a comment or sending me a PM (private message).

And if you are in San Diego and wish to meet the one and only Carlos (that's me )...drop me a private message. I always enjoy meeting one of my readers!

Thanks.

Carlos

The role of the Holy Spirit in the life of the believer - Part I

Posted 07-28-2009 at 01:41 PM by carlos123

This is going to be only the first of what may be many posts on this subject. I am not entirely certain that this blog is the place where I want to discuss this at length but for now...I will post here. If anyone reading this wants to discuss this in a more give and take, real discussion, by all means please PM me and we can arrange to do that.

Or, if you prefer, you can always comment on what I say right here. I will as always...respond to all comments.

The one thing I do not want to do is discuss this in the open forums here for more often than not when bringing up such issues...I find myself having to wade through all kinds of secondary issues that take away from a discussion of the actual issue at hand.

Lately the Lord has placed on my heart the need to study the role of the Holy Spirit in the life of the believer such that He can enlighten my heart and highlight particular truths about this issue.

Both for my own benefit and that of others and to protect me from falling into deceptive thinking myself.

There is a great deal of confusion and falsehood floating around about the role of the Holy Spirit in "Christian" circles. Some rely so heavily on the "Spirit" that they end up falling into delusion and deception regarding what is true about God. In other words they seperate themselves from the anchor of truth as contained in the Bible and begin to rely to a great degree if not entirely on the "Spirit" within them to guide them. A "Spirit" that does not always line up with what is said in the Bible.

Some even go so far as to believe that the experience of the "Spirit" within them is so superior to what is written in the Bible that what the Bible says about an issue at face value doesn't matter. Or that what it says at face value is really not what it says but that what the "Spirit" within says is the actual truth of a matter. Even if it flat out contradicts what is said in the Bible!

Still others focus so much on what is said in the Bible that they almost verge on discounting if not entirely ignoring the role of the Holy Spirit in the life of the believer.

What is true for one is not true for everyone and the relativism that permeates the belief systems of today where absolute truth is considered old fashioned and inferior to our "englightened" and modern thinking which allows us all to believe whatever we want to believe infects the Church. Such that even among Christians we find all kinds of truths floating around with every man believing what seems right in their own eyes.

Very similar to how it was in the days of the Judges in Israel when there was no King and everyone did what they saw fit to do in their own eyes.

Only today, unlike in the days of the Judges, many claiming to be Christians see fit to believe whatever they want to believe without yielding fully and completely to what God our King says is true in the Bible.

So for both my sake and the sake of others and in order to cut through the deception and falsehood being promoted as truth in this issue I will be posting about the role of the Holy Spirit in the life of the believer for those that may be interested in hearing what the Lord teaches me on this.

I may not always be right regarding my understanding of this issue but I trust the Lord to bring around members of His Body that may be used by Him to correct me when and if I stray in my understanding.

I've set up a new Category called the "Holy Spirit" to contain all the posts I may post on this issue if anyone wants to easily follow what I say.

As a side note I realize that some here might have a greater interest in hearing about my experiences in San Diego and other such things but when all is said and done it is God who sustains me in San Diego and relationship with Him and right thinking and right doing by Him is by far the most important thing in my life.

Given that this blog is simply a place where I can express what is on my heart and given the general animosity in our culture to the things of God...it may be that I may loose some readers if I emphasize the things of God too much but that is a risk that I am willing to take and indeed...must take, if this blog is to continue to reflect whatever is on my heart which at present is consumed by an interest in the things of God. As it should be.
