Jesus As A Pagan Offshoot of Jewish Myticism

The whole thread is a good one.

All of them had a godman who was born of a human virgin but whose father was a god, who was born into humble beginnings i.e. a cave, or a "stable" surrounded by animals in a trough (sound familiar), who performed miracles, i.e. turning water into wine (Bacchus, Dionysus), was killed, was resurrected and ascended.

These and dozens of other striking similarities to Jesus' life as portrayed in the gospels make one wonder if Jesus was actually just a figure who was derived from all these Mystery Religions by Jewish mystics so prevalent in Palestine during the turbulent years under Roman rule, and the Jesus legends modeled after these demigods and later incorporated into the gospel accounts by Jewish Gnostics. There can be little doubt that an actual "Jesus of Nazareth" existed, but the real Jesus and the one mythicized in the gospels are actually two entirely separate people, or corrected, one a person who was crucified and died and the other a mythicized version of the real one and given all these familiar attributes of the pagan demigods that early followers of this Jewish Gnostic religion would have been so familiar with.

The trail from pre-Jesus demigods to the gospels is so well defined it reads like an Agatha Christie mystery, where the truth finally comes out at the end of the story as all the clues are tied together. What emerges is a perfect flowchart of how everything about Jesus the man/god derives from prior mystery religions.

The very first "Christians" were actually Gnostics who were Jewish but they didn't derive these Jesus legends from Judaism; they derived them from paganism.

The fact that Jesus the God never appears in any secular writings from the period and that no one from that era knew about him, with the possible exception of Paul, who was writing his own version of Jesus as he interpreted these legends derived from demigods and incorporating them into his epistles; the fact that so many of these stories conflict with one another in the gospels accounts; the fact that no historical evidence of a Jesus, the Son of God emerges from the period outside of the gospel writings by these Jewish mystics makes it highly likely the Jesus demigod was an invented figure possibly based on an actual Jesus who was crucified by the Romans for sedition against the empire.

This stuff is so interesting.. I've always noticed a lot of similarities in many different gods/religions.. Another thing that has always stuck with me.. In addition to the death and rebirth scenario, the number three is repeated throughout many pagan religions. To ppl practicing witchcraft, three is related to the triple goddess.. The maiden, the mother, and the crone.. Ancient Greek and Norse, and even Egyptian mythology is full of references to the number three. God's were represented in groups of three, as were their children presented in groups of three boys and/or three girls.. Ancient Greeks made a triple offering to the dead of milk, honey, and oats, three days following a funeral... Odin talked to the three nornes( the weavers of fate), they allowed him to die, hung from the tree of the world. After spending three days following each of the three roots of the tree, Odin was brought back to life now having the power of prophecy and the ability to read runes..
This is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the number three.. Lol. I could go on for awhile, but I will leave it.. Numerology plays a large part in religion.. But as much as I've read, I believe the number three is by far the most prevalent.

I'd like to add some history to thrillobyte's intelligent post:

Judea at the time around 0 CE was part of the Roman Empire, which had the most powerful and disciplined military organization up to that time.

The Romans imposed worship of the Emperor as a god on the entire Empire. Monotheistic Jews in Judea, who defended their allegiance to the Torah (already at that time 1,000 to 1,500 years old) absolutely resisted this imposition, especially when the Romans set up a statue of the emperor in the Jewish Temple in Jerusalem.

The Book of Maccabees chronicles one famous Jewish action of guerilla resistance to this Roman outrage.

Around this time, sophisticated Gnostic Jews in Alexandria (the ancient world's cultural equivalent of New York) adopted a Christian variant of the mystery religions ubiquitous in the ancient Near East and around the Mediterranean. ALL of these mystery religions were strictly available to highly educated circles of initiates. And each of these cults, whether the godman was called Attis, Adonis, Mithra, Osiris, Dionysus or Jesus, understood these cults in MYTHIC terms.

The Romans would not tolerate Jewish resistance, and in
70 CE devastated Jerusalem and the Temple, killing 1,000,000 inhabitants, including early Christians as well as Jews.

The outcome was that early Christians, as well as Jews who survived Roman destruction, were scattered all over the Roman Empire. Large numbers were slaves. Over a few generations, these scattered early Christians, as well as Jews, became uneducated and illiterate.

The intellectual and religious center of Judaism moved to Babylonia. This period produced the Babylonian Talmud. Meanwhile, Jewish leaders who had regrouped in Judea produced the equally important Jerusalem Talmud (although to this day Jews generally give precedence to the Babylonian Talmud).

Early Christianity preached adherence to the laws of the State. In 319 CE, Emperor Constantine, seeing in Christian voluntary obedience a political opportunity to govern the Empire with less effort, declared Christianity the new state religion. (Constantine was a monster who casually murdered his son and his pregnant wife).

The multitude of Christian slaves in the Roman Empire, uneducated and illiterate, saw in Constantine's recognition a great opportunity to impose their radically literalized Christianity on any group that disagreed with them.

With Constantine's backing, the scattered multitude of poor, uneducated and illiterate Christians massacred the sophisticated Gnostic Jews of Alexandria. This elimination of educated, intellectual Jewish adherents to the Christian variant of mythic mystery religions cleared the way for the subsequent triumph of the literalization and "historicization" of the godman Jesus by the ignorant new Christian masses.

The rise of a new Christian intelligentsia confirmed this naive literalism. Having emerged from Judaism, the new Christian Fathers wanted to sever all ties with Judaism. Therefore, through forgeries and blatant lies, they instituted through their writings anti-Semitic propaganda at a level of hatred which can only be termed "paranoid".

In the Reformation, Martin Luther, believing that he had cleansed the Church of the overlay of accumulated Catholic doctrines and corruptions, now invited the Jews to join the new Protestant Christianity, which, Luther argued, he had returned to its Biblical purity.

The Jews, of course, refused. They had no intention of abandoning the strict monotheism and ethical precepts of the Torah.

In reaction, Luther then began to publish pamphlets containing the most obscene anti-Semitism imaginable, such as would have warmed the heart of Josef Goebbels.

Ultimately, when the future Pope Pius XII signed a Concordat with Hitler in 1933 after the latter's accession as Chancelor of Geermany, the full horror of centuries of institutional Christianity's literally insane anti_Semitism bore its hideous fruit.
