Know For Sure What You're Getting Into
To anyone considering marriage in the near or distant future:
Marriage can feel absolutely amazing or it can feel like true misery. Trust me, I've experienced both sides and right now as I type this, I feel quite down.
Engaged lovebirds, listen.
If you're considering marriage, make sure you spend time with your future spouse when they're on their best behavior and also when they're on their worst.
Get to really know the person and ALL their moods, not just the stuff they want you to see.
You'll be glad you did. And you'll either save yourself from making a huge mistake OR if you do still marry the person, at least you're doing it with your eyes wide open seeing every side of them before pledging yourself as their spouse.

Somehow it is true that people are at their best in the courtship phase before marriage and for a few months after marriage but once time goes by, the real person surfaces with the negative side that had been kept hidden being distinctly visible and all of a sudden you realize that you are living with a total stranger, someone who you don't even know due to the negative traits that you have to deal with. I agree that it is necessary for people to be their natural self and let the would-be-spouse to see both the positive and negative side of oneself so that you are accepted as you are. This will reduce the risk of break-ups after marriage. I mean no one is perfect. Each one of us has our positive and negative traits. So why hide the negative traits to have a good impression? True love will accept you as you are and if you are accepted only for your good qualities and are left for your bad qualities, then it is not true love and will lead to a break-up later.

Relationships are very difficult. Even the good ones, I think a lot of it boils down to trust, integrity and character. Do you trust them to do the right thing or do you feel you have to parent them? I want an equal adult not a grown child.
