I thought reputation points were for when you really liked a post. I have been getting some with a scolding attatched I appreciate the points, but, that seems kind of silly.
I miss the days when we could neg rep people. Now if someone says something idiotic, you have no way of showing your disdain for their viewpoint as pointing it out in a thread will just get your post deleted and warned by a moderator.

Do the people giving you reps post their name? If not then maybe it's the coward's way of telling you what they think because they're too scared to post their opinion out in the open? All they're doing is making you look like more people agree with your posts so I wouldn't worry about it!
Mods can see who sent reps, so DM a mod if you need to. You can't report a message like a regular post.
