How is this figure obtained? Often I compare areas that seem to have similar risks but one has far greater or less % than the other when both have had close tornadic activity.

Anyone know?

I don't know off hand, but it would be nice if you showed a URL where others might quickly go to the location you are referring to.

S/he's referring to the tornado activity info on each city's main page, such as the page for Dallas. The Dallas page says "Dallas-area historical tornado activity is significantly above Texas state average. It is 267% greater than the overall U.S. average."

Bowie, that's correct.

I'm sorry. I should've explained that I moved this out of the weather forum. I knew exactly what you meant, Misplaced. I just didn't have the answer for you. My guess is that Administrator or the two Sr. Mods may be the only ones who have the answer to your question.

This calculation takes into account several factors. We will take a look whether any adjustments are needed.

misplaced1, can you point out two cities for which you think the relative values are incorrect? Please note that our calculations take into account many more tornadoes than just the biggest and closest ones displayed on city pages and this might account for any discrepancies.
