Strong people don't have to make up falsehoods. As for thinking African Americans are shiftless we are just going by what we see. Whites have little to do with that observation. I know it is hard to believe but most people can form opinions independent of Whites, you guys should try it.

I've always said African-Americans have an unhealthy obsession with Whites. It's bizarre frankly.
Strong people also know how to look at others from an individual perspective, not from a group perspective. And you going by what you see, what you are looking at is the very worst of the Black population, not the majority.

And there is something else. With the Ashanti and these "Black enemies" you speak of, there is something you don't seem to understand. Blacks never referred to each other as Black until they were taught to do so. And there are many different ethnic groups in Africa, such as the Akan, Fulani, Yoruba, etc.

And something else. Your last statement is a testament of double-standards. Having spent alot of time on this forum, and having dealt with some of the stuff I've dealt with, there are many White people and non-Blacks who are obsessed with Blacks. I don't see you calling that out. But you only complain when it is Blacks talking about Whites. If Blacks cannot be obsessed about Whites, then Whites cannot be obsessed about Blacks. How about that?

Whites have A LOT to do with that observation. And by whites I mean the elite ones who founded this country and brought Africans over here. I'm not talking about those regular white people who came over here as indentured servants and fought Indians to make this place safe for the white elites to run slave plantations down south, and run trade networks up north.

You know the main issue with the Akans when they come over here is that they don't know much about the history of Africans in America. The only history you guys are taught is that America is the "Land of Opportunity which accepts the poor and oppressed peoples across the globe into their borders, and that you can make it here if you work hard."

I can understand how Akans feel. They move here with that mentality, then they move into a poor, ghetto black area, and say to themselves: "These people have all this opportunity; why are they not taking advantage of it like the other groups in America?" These people are lazy and shiftless."

Realize this that Black people in America were NEVER meant to make it. We we were brought here and meant to be a perpetual underclass. It is no accident that in every major city you go to in America today, the most poverty stricken and crime ridden areas are filled up with black people. It is no accident that a significant amount of black families are discombobulated.

Even outside of America: it is no accident that Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere.

One thing that many people never seem to understand or care to know is that there is a difference between what Africans went through and what Blacks went through. Basically, with the slaves that were brought here, they were stripped of everything, to the point where today most Blacks can't even tell you which tribe they came from. Everything was set up to make sure Blacks didn't get to participate in American society. After slavery, there was Reconstruction in the South, but that ended quickly and Jim Crow took place for 90 years. America was the land of freedom and opportunity for many, but not all. Blacks were placed at the bottom for a long time.

Should certain behaviors such as crime be excused? No way. You do the crime, you do the time. That being put out there, alot of people need to learn that alot of issues don't come out of nowhere.

That's a blog!!!!! A blog by a guy who is amazed that Africans found plants that they could eat, and sharp things on the ground they could cut with. Amazing civilization. And then "іt іѕ important tо realize thаt mаnу modern day conveniences соuld nоt exist wіthоut thе inventions thаt саmе оut оf African mаnу years ago", but he doesn't name any, unless he's still talking about wild roots and pieces of natural glass. And wow, they even had fire and could heat things up. By the date he describes the discovery of iron in Africa, European farmers were already plowing their fields with iron plows.

Just think, if the Africans hadn't found those pieces of glass-like materials on the ground, America would have no windows or bottles or microscopes or spectacles or light bulbs or skyscrapers. We owe it all to the brilliant scuebce if the Africans.

Please stop presenting every random high school theme blog that agrees with you as scientific proof of your premise.

I know it's hard for a person with a high level of ignorance and superiority type of thinking to wrap their brain around the idea that anything creative can come out of Pre-Colonial Africa. I'm sure Africans were waiting anxiously for thousands of years for European arrival to rescue them and finally bring them civilization and culture.

Jtur88, congratulations on winning the most informative poster contest. I saw your name up there.

I learned alot from you, like how there are these "sort of" black people who exist in the world, which countries are below the Sahara, how Arabs and Europeans came into Africa and civilized the Bantus, cause we all know that before then they were stone age people who couldnt read and write, and used to eat each other.

And the fact that you visited Sierra Leone and reported to us that all the people there are descended from slaves in America!!

(Most Informative Poster Contest. More like the "Most posts on topics I know nothing about" contest.)

Good. I'm glad you learned those facts in the first paragraph, which you have summarized quite correctly, showing you now have a good grasp of those facts. I never said what you referred to in the second paragraph, so feel free to unlearn that.

This thread expanded fast. Sorry if I missed anything, but to recap a few misnomers.

1. It is false to claim Africans were "in the Stone Age" before the Islamic period. Central African cultures were forging iron tools and weapons over 4,000 years ago. It's unclear if this was an importation from the Near East or an indigenous invention. But it meant technologically speaking Africa was way ahead of Australia and the Americas at the time colonialism was ramping up. Indeed, the use of iron tools was part of the cultural package which allowed Bantu-speaking farmers from the Nigeria/Cameroon border region to expand over Southern Africa and ethnically replace the existing populations (which were hunter-gatherers, and largely "pygmy" or "khoisan" in origin, not Black African.

2. Ethiopia, and more generally speaking all of East Africa, was an area of huge cultural interchange between Africa and the Near East. In terms of genetics, virtually all modern day East Africans have some "white" ancestry. Here's another post showing similar data. Ethiopian highlanders (Amhara and Tigray) show the most West Eurasian (white, if you like) ancestry, in some cases having as much as 45%. Lesser amounts are found in Oromo, Somali, and even among the Masai. Genetic evidence suggest there were several different waves of expansion from the Near East into East Africa, with the most recent being only 3,000 years ago, along with a later migration of these hybridized people into Southern Africa ahead of the expanding Bantu. Regardless, admixture would make logical sense in Ethiopia, given highlanders speak Semitic languages closely related to modern South Arabian languages, have a written language with Near Eastern origin, and had close enough religious associations with the Near East that many highlanders were Jewish before conversion to Orthodox Christianity.

3. I'm not going to belabor the points about North Africa, except to note again that modern genetic studies have shown that the Arab invasions if anything made modern North Africans more "black." Berber populations in the Maghreb consistently show less African admixture than their Arab-speaking neighbors, although the ones further south, like the Mozabites and the Tuareg, do show black admixture on their own. Black ancestry in Morocco and Egypt has been dated to have occurred mainly after the Islamic slave trade started up. Hell, look at what actual Copts look like in Egypt - not too different from other Egyptians. It's clear at minimum if you could take a time machine back to the Roman era people in North Africa would be if anything lighter than today. We can't fully disentangle what the ancient Egyptian population looked like, but the majority of the ancestry of modern-day Berbers seems to be from a group which migrated back into North Africa from the Middle East 12,000 years ago.

4. People shouldn't focus on what "Africa" invented. Continents geographic landforms, and we shouldn't abstract them across a wide array of cultures. The fact is, as has been noted, large portions of East Africa were "civilized" long before the vast majority of Europe was. Europe inherited its inventions from the Near East as well, and it's becoming clear that as with elsewhere, Near Eastern farmers seem to have wiped out a huge portion of Europe's original population.

I don't know why some folks are so threatened by some of these facts. I mean Japan wouldn't have a written language without China.
