Its not bad. I lived here for 3 years, this is my 4th. Moved from California.
Pretty much its an ongoing city, home of Goodyear, and they have a lot of new projects. Bad neighborhoods but avoiding them is easy. Crime rate is not too bad, never heard a gunshot before. Some drive-by shooting a years but happen mostly to fast food workers.
A lot of jobs around, there are plenty of people hiring.
Winter can be severe.
Overall, at the moment, Akron is okay to move in, as long as u r just a low to middle class person
Wouldnt recommend for high class, nothing luxury here

This city has become Little Nepal. We are infested by these immigrants who have NO desire to be part of the town, NO desire to become Americans. They just live here off YOUR money in the form of a monthly stipend. Veterans are living in the woods in tent camps, but the Nepalese all have homes with low to no interest FHA loans. I have about 6 families living on my street and they are the most disrespectful people ever. They bring brothers and sisters with their families from other states and live 2-3 families per house, and they keep breeding so there are as many as 5-6 kids living in a house meant for 4 people, all noisy and screaming non stop. They are horrible neighbors. One on my street just built a second structure on his property, COMPLETELY against zoning, because they have the attitude that since they are not Americans, the American laws do not apply to them.
