I guess if I wanted to name some things that are relatively decent is the greenery (for the few months it's around) and ... oops can't think of anything else.

Anyone who is able to move from Ohio, you should do it ASAP.
The only thing Vegas has over Ohio or anywhere else is casinos and low paying jobs in the service industry. Plus I would like to know how Las Vegas has more "culture" than Ohio when over 90% of the population has moved there recently from somewhere else. Outside the famous "Strip" (which is geared to tourists for the most part since locals avoid going there) the city for the most part consists of generic strip malls and subdivisions found in nearly any sunbelt city.

Left in 1987, and miss some of the Toledo area restaurants. Tony Packo's, The Beirut, Charlie's Coney Island, etc. It always amazed me, after moving away, how spoiled Toledoans are with regard to food diversity. For a smaller city, Toledo had a pretty amazing array of choices, and good choices as well. Lebanese, Syrian, Greek, Polish, Hungarian, Italian, Chinese, soul food, etc.

I worked in DC for year after retiring from the Army. There were some decent places in NOVA. Haven't be to Nofolk, but am usually between Hampton and Newport News once or twice a year for work. There are a couple of decent places there. All things considered, though I do miss some places in Toledo, Cleveland, and Amish Country (Der Dutchman food coma FTW), I am happy to substitute Tex-Mex, Texas barbecue, and German and Czech food, and an 80 degree February afternoon for all the Packo's dogs on the planet and a 01 degree February afternoon. That, and they do mail order now. In fact, got some for Christmas this year, and had a few this past weekend.

I love Ohio, well I have a love/hate relationship with my home state. I miss the cheap housing and the four seasons and the fact that the state is so close to a lot of big cities in the midwest and south.

Only good food here is a chain restaurant. You'll find some stuff that is okay in the independent restaurants but it isn't like it is in the Midwest. The ethnic stuff is just better in the Rust Belt. Particularly the European, and Mediterranean.

You're right, stuff here is "decent". You won't write home about it. Next time you're in Norfolk, stop at No Frills Grill or Hell's Kitchen. Great food. One portion at No Frills Grill is enough for two people. Granby Street Pizza is good too. Avoid Y'Not at all costs; run the other way. You would do better cooking Italian at home than to deal with that place.

When there is something good here, it's from North Carolina.

Wow, thanks to everyone who keep the thread going.
It is going on 7 years for me now. I like the winters in GA, but I still miss the lush, green spring and summer in Ohio, and the crisp colorful fall. I do not miss the winter.
I miss window boxes brimming with flowers. Here, it is impossible to keep planters wet enough in the extreme heat. I miss being able to grow tomatoes. I miss lake perch fish fries.

The only thing I would miss would be the Malls. Ohio is not a place I'll regret leaving.
