I'm another BRAC person moving to AL from Northern VA in March 2011. I have been looking at houses for awhile and really like Arab for the schools, price, etc. What is your opinion of moving to Limestone County; more specifically Elkmont? Don't mind the drive as mine is 3 hours roundtrip but want no frills living.

You should be able to get closer in than Elkmont and still have no-frills living. I'd be looking close to 65 northeast of Athens. That way you can have country, decent shopping, AND quicker access to Nashville or B'ham.

Can't tell you about Limestone county but I can tell you anything you want to know about Arab and the surrounding area It is only about 25 minutes to H'ville.

Thanks for all your help! I don't even know what to ask but from everything I've read and heard I've known that I wanted to live in Arab. It's sounds like a great place to live.

Well Arab has no movie theater, no mall and not much for teenagers to do, so if those are must haves then you should look at a bigger city. Wally World is our mall. I have lived in a big city and I prefer the safety and friendliness of the small city. I don't mind driving 20-25 minutes to go to a mall or a movie.
