Every county seat has a prison of some kind. Capshaw, in Limestone County is a state prison. Decatur has a brand-new county prison, as well as a work release center. Athens, Huntsville, Scottsboro, the Shoals area, all have prisons. Generally speaking, if the prisoners escape, they're trying to get as far away as possible as quickly as possible. Unless they get in a car with their brother and take off to go fishing...which happened this week.

Funny, in FL we just called those jails not prisons. If you were sentenced to a long term, you were sent out of the area to a state prison.

I'm not asking about jails...I would think just about every city/town has their own jail. I'm talking more about prisons....where people are sentenced after found guilty of a crime..............

The Capshaw "detention facility" is a state prison. However, since Alabama's prisons are crowded, some state prisoners are kept - sometimes temporarily, sometimes not - in county jails.
Harvest is a growing area. I have a couple of friends who are raising families there. They like it because it's country. One is a rocket scientist (for real! and there are a lot of them around here) and one is a computer engineer.
