Everyday I wake up, is an opportunity to me for something. I am a victim of nothing.

Its a small town, just accept that fact and enjoy the benefits of small town living. I think you will enjoy it. Short ride to Montgomery if you need something bigger and nice day trip to the coast.

I live in a small town now so Ive gotten used to that but the call of the beach is what I keep hearing. My son and I will be arriving there Sunday, seeing what the town has to offer and touring the plant Monday. Gotta be back home for him to be at first day of school. Then Wednesday, I and several co-workers will be visiting the Ohio plant for several days. They would like for all of us full timers to go to Ohio. Cold versus warm not far from beach, or don't move and find another job.

I hope you continue to update this thread with your progress. A good friend of mine went through the same process when a plant in Union City, TN closed.

I know we'll see a happy resolution to this story - please keep us posted.

It for sure is a tough decision to make since it involves my child at a important time in his life. One thing I did not mention here was the passing of his father when he was 7. I am not looking for sympathy but not being from here myself I would have left the area then. I decided to stay so my son would have everything stable to the way he knew life. Now, that is one of the things keeping me from packing and leaving "yesterday" so to say. I want him to have that same stability until he graduates, but he also understands more now.

Very sad. I hope he has adjusted well. I had a problem losing my father years ago and it was very difficult for me. I think that kind of loss is the beginning adulthood. (like it or not)

Thank you, he has adjusted. I agree it is the beginning of adulthood. Thankfully its made him more respectful and responsible instead of going the other way and thinking the world owes him.
