Someone has to rain on this parade. Until you get the visa sorted out all you do is come to Alabama on vacation. It is a beautiful place and I would go back any day.
Work from home accountant and chimney something is not qualifying you for an employment based visa. Falling in love while on vacation is an option. Investing in and successfully running a business is an other but it does not lead to a Green Card. Travel.state.gov and uscis.gov are your go to sites.

You mentioned about your insurance and how you came out of the ER with the bypass.
was the total $200 with your insurance, or would it still be $200 with ought insurance.
I always dread that, with ought insurance, one would go to ER and come out with thousands of $$, thats how ive always thought of it as, but the UK media always build everything up stupid.
It was near $200,000 ... not $200. I'm sure that insurance did not pay nearly that much.

I may be mistaken, but I'm pretty sure that they would bill a person without insurance a much higher rate than they bill the insurance company. The bill could be negotiated downward, or in the case of some, never even attempted to be paid. It's a screwy situation, and I feel very fortunate to be able to afford and have proper insurance.

Well i turn over £100,000 in uk and pay alot of tax, so hopefully i can get a visa based on that.
If not, i have run a successful chimney repair company for over 10 years which turns over £80,000+

Im still looking into all this in great depth so everything is new to me.
Thanks for the advice tho for the site man, ill look at them tomorrow.

What you do in the UK is unfortunately of no interest. You will need a business plan showing what you invest and then reapply at regular intervals. Construction, and this is construction, is not the same as what you are used to. Google contractor license AL. No connections, crew, referrals. Look for EB2 forums.

You should definitely visit in the summer. Bama summer days regularly exceed that and the humidity is a beast. On the bright side, air conditioning is almost universal, especially at your price point.

OP, I second looking into Canada, specifically Windsor, Ontario. There will be more work for chimney specialists, plus you're across the bridge/tunnel from Detroit, Michigan which is being renovated.

Although this area is not hard-core Christian, it is less violent than where you are now and the climate is a little more like you're used to. Canadians in that area are used to people from everywhere, and you'll fit in without any problems.

I like Huntsville a lot in the spring and fall, but the summers are hot, hazy, and humid to a point where it's not a place I would settle, and your elderly parents might find it a bit much.

Well, I guess if he wanted to live in Canada he would have posted to the Canada forum. Just saying.
