Besides, 1) thread drift is normal and to be expected and 2) this particular thread does not seem to be getting "de-railed".
Probably because it appears someone's housemates discovered what he's been doing and started monitoring his medications. When that happens, a lot of foolishness ceases.
Luther Leavitt ? I have never heard of that name. There's lots of em in the Barrow phone book but no Luther.
I have heard it said by many elders; that there are only 5 familes in Barrow
the Browers, Hopsons; Leavitts; Edwardsons & Itta's Of course there are many many other families but those are without a doubt the largest.
As far as the comment on the tundra being softer the further south you travel; That is pure nonesense!
I know from experience of living in many different villages that Barrow tundra is way different from the tundra further south.
Point Hope Old town site for instance is solid tundra able to drive vehicles on. In fact it is possible to drive to Kupak river some 80 miles away over the tundra which is not spongy.
I've been too busy lately to see all the good stuff. It's deleted before I get around to looking. Musta been good stuff to, guessing from the fragments that get left.
Just that Bill Hess is the best photographer on the entire North Slope. Geez, even you^^ couldn't argue with that.
