Yea, it works better when Warpt does it!

Yeah, I know. Hahahaha! Never try to imitate the master. Or in this case, don't imitate the master of imitation!

I half-wondered if you were making a joke, should have gone with that feeling! Sometimes I am too literal thinking.

It had me laughing, as did the OP.

I especially like the part in the OP about a whaling crew being a Captain and 8 members. (Actually, each crew probably has 20 or more members, but...) Then he does the math... and didn't even count the freaking Captain! It would be nine times 37.

In fact though, the actual crew membership is probably more like 3 to 5 times that high.

The "crew" is not just the boat crew, or even just the hunting crew that man's the camp. It is also the Captain's wife and all of the women who work on feeding the others and who work on processing the meat. It also includes people who work on the trail, work on hauling meat to town from the ice, and hauling food out to the hunting camp on the ice. It can also include people who have not actually done anything for years, but are still members.

Also, the very idea that any particular village is more "traditional" than the others is downright hilarious (okay, it's abject ignorance). The actual tradition that is followed and important is the best use of technology to feed the village, and they all do exactly that.

Here's to a successful and safe season on the ocean. Hope the limits are all met and food is plentiful in the villages.

Yeah, mmm hmmm, right, just like shooting a Bald Eagle or, better yet, a California Condor is no different than stepping on an ant. You are one mixed up dude, that's for sure.

No, I'm not. You're just illogical. The Inupiat population of Alaska has been depending on whales as a food source long before the bunny huggers ever came onto the scene.

Why must they give up their food source to make you feel better? What would you have them eat in its place? SPAM?

just because yankee whalers were irresponsible and greedy doesn't mean that alaska natives should starve.

There is a big difference between subsistence whaling and commercial whaling, in my opinion.
