Every time I've driven the highway has been in November or January. Some year I should do it in the summer just to see what it's like not covered in snow...

Be prepared for bad weather. I would recommend chains, even if it's the simple cable type. Have warm clothing & extra food & water. Throw a couple of bags of sand in the bed of the truck.

Stiff...have you used these Cables?? we have only ever used studds or chains.....they don't appear to be much more than soup'd up bungie cords...

We use cables 6+ times yearly they work well enough. Chains give a bit more bite, but not much.
