My husband (we are separated) is about to pass in Oklahoma. I'd like to take the kids down to see him. Angel Flights just declined us as they are saving their remaining tickets for people who need to go to the lower 48 for treatment. Someone said that AA employees get stand by passes. I can get to Dallas on Alaska Air. You can read what's going on on my blog. I am trying to keep it updated so I don't have to do separate updates to all my online friends as I am about out of energy at this point.

Call Alaska Airlines (AS) sometimes they give hardship fares. It's worth a phone call. AS employess get buddy passes that they can give out but they only get a limited number each year.

I know someone who got a discounted ticket from AA when her father died. She couldn't afford to buy a full price ticket so they got her there and back for much less than the going rate.

Yes they will do it AFTER he dies. I was trying to get our kids down there before that happened.

The Lions Club will sometimes help. Check their website for any emergency numbers as this is a long, holiday weekend. Good luck.

Thanks guys. We got two guest passes so that took several hundred dollars off the price. Had to buy one at full price short notice so that hurt a bunch. I have two more coming for our return trips but went ahead and used those two to get us down there and will set up the return trip for two when we are down there. For more details please check my blog so I don't cry all over the board.

Going by buddy pass these days is not a good idea. Planes are so full right now it is hard to get on.

Good luck!
