This may be a dumb question, most are. Being 4,500 miles away from the thick of it, how did 911 affect you in Alaska? Being here in the mid- atlantic, it isn't like we were ducking but we were very aware.

Here in Alaska; I can only speak for myself and others close to me. We were shocked, saddened with intense remorse @ the hideous nature of manknind to destroy innocent peoples lives through hatred and deceit!

That is just my personal feelings. Posted in my own words.

I was getting ready to go pick up my son who was supposed to be on a flight from Ketchikan on that day, but the planes were grounded.

We were living in Alaska when 9/11 happened. And I feel a strange disconnect from the whole thing. By the time we woke up to the alarm to get the kids ready for school, it was already over. There was no "what's happening" moment that those on the east coast felt. It was all laid out in front of us and this is what's going on.

I read that blog mentioned up above and agree with it 100%. It's been 10 years and still have to jump through hoops, dig up 15yo paperwork just to get a new drivers license to prove I'm who I am. I need something that shows every single name change. and when you've been married twice that's a lot of crap to dig up. No longer is your old drivers license enough to prove you're you. And it's all because of 9/11.

Other countries pay attention at the airports in order to catch the bad guys, at ours we get molested and folks still get on planes with things they shouldn't. Not quite sure what happened to that whole "Land of the Free" crap.
