I used to work for Wells Fargo in their credit card customer service and, I can say with all confidence, YES, they ARE making out like bandits!

I've never known a bank to NOT make out like a bandit. Where else can a business lose $2b+ over the course of 6 months and not realize it.... AND still might be able to declare a PROFIT. (UBS)

Ohh and check the exhange rates, USDCAD is almost at parity ($1 US = $1 CAD)

But the consumers are to blame, we like our plastic. (I am in this boat too)... If we all said, forget it, we will just take cash -- then they would be out of business.

Good luck and enjoy the travel. It's a wonderful adventure! I think I will do it again next summer.
Traveler's checks have gone the way of the do do bird.
