Thank you everybody. It's a cast iron stove. Lopi is the brand I believe. Installed professionally new in 2009.

You mentioned it is burning hotter than it ever has. So Ray may have nailed it as the door seal. Might give that a once over.

Could it just be the warmer temperatures outside? The difference between keeping a fire at -25 and 25 above?

We burn a lot of fires at 25F and we've never melted our stove. That's not normal. The only difference I've ever seen with warmer outside temps (and I mean like above freezing) is that it doesn't draft as well at first.
