Hey there Dakster. Yes, she took the utilities out of her name and did not pay them. That is how I wound up with the bill. I have to give the Electric CO. heck, they are not supposed to take the utilities out of her name until she pays when she does it. But I have to do it in person, they won't admit they are in the wrong over the phone. When I was in Delta Junction, I had the same thing with my landlord. I had to pay the final bill before I could take the utilities out of my name. The other utilities I have to write up a formal letter for the account before they will do that. They just are not set up for that kind of bookkeeping. But at least we are having spring up here!

Wow. Sounds like someone messed up at the Utility companies. That is just crazy. I can see you being responsible for the bills AFTER she moved out, but not for services she used. Although here they wouldn't turn anything on until you set it up. I went through that when I bought my house, the old owner turned off the water and at the same time I ordered it to be turned on. Well, they got the turn off order and not the turn on order, so the house was without water. Luckily I have a water key so it was easy and I just called the water company up and said just move the end number to my account...

Hard to believe that your temps up there are hotter than ours are down South.
