Hi everyone, iv considered buying land in the lake louise area for quite some time. I know, walk it before you buy it.

Can anyone post any in site as to land accessibility in the area? Bug problems, no land access during the summer? Do the small lakes freeze solid during the winters?

Really any information would be helpful.
Fyi, no road no power.

Unless you plan to fly things in, you'd better hope those lakes freeze (and yes, they do), otherwise you'll have a hard time getting anything out there.
And yes, plenty buggy.

We were up by Lake Louise last July. Didn't go all the way up to the lake, but got within a few miles of it. Yes, the bugs were there, not as bad as some places, but then we had a breeze so, that could have been the reason. The trees were thinner there and there were quite a few areas with lower brush. It was pretty, like most areas in Alaska. I talked to one guy who lives on the lake and he said he uses a boat in the summer time to come and go, when he needs to, drives on the ice in the winter, but there are times when you are in between and you might have to wait for freeze/thaw......that's all I remember. Good luck.
