Around the house, I feel like a standup comedian who's been doing the same act for 20 years and still trying to get the audience to laugh along with him.

Not only that, but my sense of sarcasm and irony has rubbed off on 3 young men, and they have all of my barbed comebacks memorized. So now I get my replies echoed on stereo baritones.

What an utterly beautiful day it is...snow-puffs on the spruce, nary a breeze, blue skies, Redoubt is still steaming...
And I've paid the bills for the month.

Well Martha's Mom memorial service went well. Having the wake at The Cheesecake Factory was strange though. Boy I'm tired. I've been up since 6am.

Other than I feel as though I've been run over by a steam-roller, yes...I am feeling better. Could be because I actually slept without waking last eve, or moving. Haven't done that in awhile

My sympathy to Barkingowl and family, and Rance and family.

Rance that was a great story about your grandmother, and it hit home. My mom is going to be 97 in May. She's in a nursing home because she fell and just can't take care of herself any more. She wouldn't move in with me or my older sister, she said she never wanted to do that to her kids. It was hard to see her go to the nursing home, but she seems real content there, and we go see her either every day, or every other day. But the stories she can tell are so interesting. She was born in Kentucky, her mom died when mom was just a baby so her dad and older sister and brother raised her. She tells about going out with her dad to plow the fields, and she rode on the horse that pulled the plow, she tells about family getting together and some playing guitar and banjo and the organ, all of them singing old hymns. So, so many stories. She's seen alot, moved to IL when she was around 13 or 14, has showed me the kind of car she came in when there are antique cars in parades. She married my dad, who was also from KY, had 6 kids, 3 are deceased. She's lost her mom and dad, her husband, her brother and sister, nieces and nephews. Anyway, don't want to keep going on and on, but I understand how you felt about your grandmother. My mom is my biggest hero. She can still tell stories from a long time ago, but alot of the time can't remember what I told her after 5 minutes. These older people are so important, and they aren't always treated very well. So hold on to your memories of your grandma, they'll be some of the best you have.

Barkley, good to hear the service is over. Always a trying time for contentious family members. Hoping for better times ahead.
