Searched and didn't find a thread that matched, so might as well start one and see what comes of it.
Guns and snowmobiles are probably greatest contributors, I don't know.

Here's one recently in the news. Glaciers strike again? https://www.cbsnews.com/news/valdez-...d-dead-alaska/

Snow machines and ATV accidents happen quite often, and not all of the people involved are of adult age. Every now and then I hear about gun accidents, but not often at all. Also, I hear a lot of motorcycle accidents that resulted on deaths.

How about this data?

It seems that both you and I were far off the mark

Unintentional Injury Deaths, Alaska

That's interesting. Drowning and motor vehicle accidents aren't surprising but poisoning and falls? Never would have guessed they'd be so high.

Here's a listing - https://icd.who.int/browse10/2015/en#!/X40-X49 - of what deaths get included in the poisoning category. I suspect a large fraction of them were drug overdoses.

Here's the one for falls - https://icd.who.int/browse10/2015/en#/W00-W19. Nothing obvious there about why there have been so many, but I've always heard that falls in the home are a lot more frequent than you would think.

I would imagine light aircraft accidents are also much more frequent there compared to other places.

Ah, that makes sense then. However, you would think they'd categorize drug overdoses separately from other poisonings.

Today's ADN has two of these stories: Marine scientist dies in SE dive and woman dies falling from glacier.

Yes, drug overdose deaths are bunched by the CDC with deaths from poisons.

By the way, ATV accidents that result in death happen each year in Alaska, although not as common as the accidental deaths and others talked about in this thread. This ATV accident happened recently:
