Wait for the snow to melt. Just kidding. I don't think it's bad either. During the spring, summer and fall, there are community service clean-ups going on all the time.

I would not move here if I wasn't financially secure but it is possible if you PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT YOU BUY. I do make good money so maybe I am just naive.
Costco is also a good source if you don't mind buying in bulk. The other thing to do is watch for sales. Every grocery store has them and you can do fairly well with your food budget. Walmart is also good at marking down items close to the sell by date. We've gotten some good prices on meat. We really liked when they first opened and hadn't figured out their inventory. We got hams and turkeys for $5 each. I don't think we'll see that again.

I have been to rural Missouri and Arkansas and everything looks good compared to those places. I don't see a whole lot of trash on the roads in Juneau. You do see stuff in the yards but this is normal for rural communities.
