The last cruise I was on was a two week jaunt from Florida to San Diego through the Panama Canal. I think we were some of the youngest people on the ship. I'm 43. Most of the people that would be classified as tourons were in their 60s & up. They all seemed to feel that being rude was just fine because they were old. Its alright to abuse the crew because they are just there to serve them. I have no problem telling rude old tourons to go f'k themselves. My wife & I set our own agenda & see what we want to see. I've been kicking myself because I think we aren't going for a long enough period of time. I think the only way to really see the state the right way is to move there.

Yeah I would like to see some things that are easily seen from a cruise ship but there are just to many people on those things I don't even like going to town. Population 8,000 because it seems crowded. Well hopefully we have a good trip to Alaska we leave next week any advise from the "Locals" on must sees we are going for 3 weeks and have no plans to speak of just play it by ear.

Are you going to be on shore? Or just on the ship? If you have the time...drive from Anchorage up toward Talkeetna, swing through Denali, up to Fairbanks and even a little farther north to Chena Hot Springs, then head south again down toward Tok, then eith down to Valdez or over to Palmer, then blow through Anchorage and head down to the Kenai Peninsula all the way to Homer. On your way back swing over and see Seward and maybe do a wildlife cruise to whale watch and glaciers viewing, than back up to Anchorage. If your sticking to a cruise ship...someone else will have to give you the tips for southeast AK.
In Talkeetna you can get a plane ride up and land on a glacier of Denali. Fishing should be picking up on the Kenai Peninsula, and you could go halibut fishing for sure.

you know Xaat, that's just plain rude, especially on a public forum. Privately that may be funny, but here out on a free public forum, that is just wrong.

After 3 or 4 day on the road...those hot springs are a blessing. Be prepared to take a nap afterwards! Anyway...depending on your stop and go's along the way...you can be up as far as Chena Hotsprings/Fairbanks area in a week easy. Then you'd have a week to cruise around. Then a week to make the drive back. Bring a couple spare tires, watch for Bison and Elk in northern Canada, watch for Caribou and Moose coming into Alaska, (and moose everywhere in Alaska) and a camera. And hope you get along well with your travel partner!

Oh and passports!

Gee, one of these days you may own one of those then you will be on the other side of the fence. Most of us RVers try to avoid main street and narrow roads but, in most cases, in your area, there are not a lot of roads to chose from. We do try to avoid other traffic and pedestrian but large RVs like a loaded truck, do not stop on a dime. So most of us who are veterans RVer try to drive v-e-r-y carefully. And if we have a small car with us, we park the monster and use it instead. My apologies if some of us have offended you.
Now, as to old people being rude, I don't believe most you are describing the majority.
