Willow/Talkeetna area

There IS a new grocery story at the Y, with everything necessary including a deli. Downtown Talkeetna is typical, more touristy than in years past, but the Roadhouse still serves dependably good food, pizza is across the street, and you can get a brew just about anyplace. Development is happening; sold a cabin and 5 acres subdivided into 1.25-acre increments a few years ago and spent a couple months there late this summer. While it's less expensive than most areas, that's not always the case, and you'll be putting in a well, a power pole, etc., to anything unimproved, so consider the cost there. The commute isn't any shorter than it has been, but MVFCU has a branch there so you don't have to go all the way to Wasilla to do your banking -one of the better changes that's occurred. Still, it's Talkeetna - old hippies, outlaws, renegades, degenerates, and general disgruntled folk mix with the yuppie/greenie types. It is what it is. Nice place to visit; hell in the summer, gorgeous in the winter, and everything in between the rest of the year. If you like XC skiing, it's heaven. If you like Anchorage, consider Talkeetna a suburb; it's been discovered.

can anyone tell me how much rent is for a 2 bedroom apartment in willow? have a dog, well behaved and very friendly...any part time jobs around?? thanks. ron
