Greetings,
I have scoured the web to some degree,....but it is hard to trust advertising info from so many sites,....

I am looking for a cabin to rent for maybe a week or 2....not just a 'shack'...but something solid, with a genny for electric, stove..etc..etc...
And I would like it to be located in a VERY remote area, perhaps on a river or large lake. Something accessible only by float plane or boat or such.
True, isolated wilderness.
Get dropped off with supplies,....relax in nature for a week or 2, then get picked up and back to reality.

Anyone know of any areas with mountains, animals, and 'real' seclusion? And/or any companies or such that are trustworthy and arent renting shacks that are a few hundred yards apart. Isolation means 'no other people'....PERIOD.

Thanks in advance for any thoughts, or insight!

Since you didn't specify where you wanted a cabin, here is one place.

Ely, MN Chamber Of Commerce - Lodging - Remote Cabins (http://www.ely.org/lodging/remotecabins.php - broken link)

Ahh.....good point. I am R&Ding that aspect of the trip.
I dont care too much where from a geographical standpoint. I am talking about ALASKA though.

I do want woods and mountains! Bear, moose...etc.
I do not want a cabin in the middle of a flat, treeless tundra!

Thanks!

haha.....MN? eh...no thanks. I live in the Appalachian mtns as it is.

Flying 400 miles west of Anchorage and a hour by a Caravan isn't remote enough?

whats up doc? ya know what i would do since you want quality and dont mind spending a little coin is call and or email all the hunting guides / Outfitters in the state and ask them what they have. The guys all have what yor looking for . The camps out there , even the pilots that know where there going. All ya need is boxes of food , cloths a camera and 20 gallons of gas.

Now thats living....

Warpt...those people in Napaimute are going the right direction. I have always thought that it would be a good idea for a village to install rental cabins on some of their remote areas and perhaps a fishing guide or two. I think they could have a good little local industry going.

Actually, although I don't think dr Jim would go for it. There might be a market for remote cabins outfitted with nothing more than a wood stove, a kerosene lamp and an outhouse.

ManM.....yes,.....checking about with some of the outfitters up there is probably my next step....I just dont want to wade through tons of them if anyone here had any advice.

Warp - The Napaimute cabin looked fine,....but there was no way to tell 'where it was' in relation to the "them" and the village? Follow me? Sure it is in the middle of nowhere,...and maybe 500 yards from the town hall?
