Namaste Shangri-La (http://www.alaskadispatch.com/features/dining/959-namaste-shangri-la- - broken link)

Any reviews from folks on this board? I expect to eat here when I come to Alaska, hopefully later this summer.

This is the first I've heard of this place. Might have to check it out the next time I'm there. I hear Palin likes it...lol.

(Sorry, had to!)

Here's another one to put on your list when you make it up to Anchorage:

Bombay Deluxe

Finally made it there for lunch the other day, been meaning to stop there for the longest time. The food is excellent! The owner is very friendly too. Best part is it's only two doors down from my favorite Korean place in Anchorage as well!

Good news - he's also got a place in Wasilla so you can stop there after you've made your pilgrimage to the altar of Palin!

Bombay Deluxe Wasilla,

Been there and thought the establishment prior to Bombay Deluxe was far better and the wife won’t step into Bombay Deluxe after one visit. I believe it used to be called Bombay Palace, but was bought out by the people who own Bombay Deluxe in Anchorage. The change in ownership and chef was a major disappointment.

I’m glad to see another estabilishment in Anchorage though. We shall try this as soon as we can. I’ll let you know when I get back.

Interesting. Yes, I hope the Anchorage location is distinct from the Wasilla one. Maybe I'll stop in and try that one too for comparison one of these days when I'm out in the Valley .

The first thing to note is the unoriginal and uninspiring name "Bombay Deluxe." Just like the zillion "Taj Palaces" all around Silicon Valley. The second thing, the prices are a rip-off. If I were to guess, this is yet another cookie-cutter operation to divest undiscriminating Americans out of their money - 'exotic' & 'ethnic' sells well these days. If I were you, I would stick to the tandoori items and give a pass to the curries.

I am dismayed at the mediocre quality of Indian restaurants all over America. They are much, much better in the UK.

By the way, Moose, I met a fella from Wasilla recently. A quiet, dignified sort. Didn't know you had those specimens up in Alaska
