If you had a choice between Anchorage, Fairbanks, Sitka and Ketcikan; where would you choose to live and why. My new employer has offices in all 4 locations and I have a choice. Thanks.

It all depends on your likes and dislikes. Anchorage has a big city feel, but not as big as say Seattle, San Francisco, Chicago, etc. Fairbanks is smaller, but you'll face winter darkness and below zero temps. Ketchikan and Sitka are even smaller, more isolated and have more rainfall. Both are likely to have little nightlife for the younger set. They each have their good points, but it's usually the these points that will steer people away.

Ketchikan has lots of night life. Start at First City Saloon and bar hope all the way through downtown and finish the evening at The Potlatch Bar.

For your first Alaskan experience I'd choose Anchorage for your first couple of years to see if you even like the thought of living up here. If your job has four offices I'm sure you can transfer to the other cities if Anchorage is not for you. Anchorage has all the amenities available compared to the panhandle and isn't as cold as Fairbanks. The only downfall of Anchorage is the traffic, it has gotten so bad in the past couple of years!
