Hi there! Wonder if you guys can help me out. I 31 years old and a single mother. I am originally from Brooklyn, New York (born and raised) but have been out of the city since 2003. My girlfriend lives in Schenectady and I'm thinking of moving up there once the school year is up (I currently live in NC and that's where I've been since 2003, the Southeast). Problem is, I don't know anything about Schenectady-Albany.
What's it like in terms of job market (in general)? Crime? Can you list better neighborhoods? What would a typical/decent 2 bedroom apartment go for (average)? How are the elementary schools? Can you tell me some of the better elementary schools? Are there decent extra-curricular activities for small children?
Or perhaps, if there's a place with 30-45 minutes of Schenectady that's better - do tell. Give me as much information as possible and I'll be indebted to you forever! Thanks so much in advance!
