I'm considering a drive to visit Granville, NY in a month or two. My mother was born there in 1910. I never went there to visit but am very curious to hear about it. Is it a nice retirement place for a woman without a lot of money?

It is a small rural town. Probably very reasonable to live financially.

It is a nice little town. Basic amenities are close by and Glens Falls is close for bigger stuff.

It's good if you like the "middle of no where" feel.

Not really. You are right next to Vermont and close to Rutland and Bennington. Albany is not far and Saratoga is also near by. Then you have Lake George, and Fort Ticonderoga and tons of history.

Cost of living is rated higher than the US average, night life isn't much to speak of, but it is a friendly town, small and rural with not a lot of excitement occurring in the town. It's a fairly conservative village.
