My family have made the decision that we're moving to Albany area. I've done my research and found that the Watervliet area (new development near route 7) is what best fit my family but I just want to get another opinion from residents.
Here is what I'm looking for: good public school, family friendly neighborhood, within 20 min commute from airport or UAlbany, Close to park or water.
Watervliet is good for growing family? Thanks in advance to any advice I may receive

Yeah Watervliet's a solid blue collar area. It's safe and quiet for the most part similar to Cohoes. More walkable than other nearby "nice" towns which is good. Commute to the airport won't be difficult at all. You're right across the river from Troy which has a nice downtown. In a few years I'm sure all the improvements they're making to Cohoes' downtown will draw you there as well.

I'd raise my family there no problem.

Thank you for your answer MrJones17,
One more question. Are you familiar with that development I described? The address is Waverly Circle.
My realtor told me the address belongs to North Colonie SD and Latham area. Do you this the resale value of a property of this development is high enough and do you think this area is a good place to live in?

Hopefully others will chime in with more specific information about the development, but North Colonie is a well regarded school district.

Can't say that I'm familiar with that development.

I'm familiar with the area. North Colonie schools are quite good. That's a very popular new development for young families.

Would a better title be "Is the North Colonie SD good for a growing family?"

I live in Watervliet, 7th Ave just off of 19th St. I love it - very quiet street, considerate neighbors, 2.5 miles from my job in Menands, and close to many places to shop, as well as easy access to I-787, the Thruway and the Northway as well as the Berkshire Spur to the Mass. Pike.

Can't speak for the achools, as I am single/no kids, but just for living it's head and shoulders over Schenectady (where I grew up) and parts of Troy (lived in Little Italy for 14 years).

Watervliet area or Watervliet itself? Make sure you know which school district it's in. North Colonie schools considered great Watervliet ok at best.
