Hello!
I am looking to possibly move to Albany from Queens. I’ve heard great things about the Center Sq neighborhood, and it’s walkability. Is this true? Love those old homes!! Is it safe to be in that neighborhood? I need walkability and to be close to all things necessary.
Are the buses around there safe too?
Yeah it's probably the most walkable neighborhood in all of Albany. It includes Lark Street which has all the restaurants, bars, and stuff like that. I would avoid Lark Street late at night and in the early morning hours especially on weekends. It's pretty obvious who is up to no good, just use common sense.
It's a nice neighborhood if you're into older homes/apartments. The only thing I hate about it is the parking, especially during winter. You either have to parallel park like a boss or rent a space. You are likely use to this if you're in Queens.
The CDTA buses are fairly new and are nice. I rode one a couple years back with no issue.
