For a short commute, East Greenbush. Good SD right next to Rensselaer and across the Hudson River from Albany. It is south of Troy as well. East Greenbush CSD |

You are in for a rude awakening on state income and local property and school taxes.

I hope this job is really worth it.

It likely comes with higher pay as well. So, that probably comes into play.

Indiana has flat 3.23% tax rate. Isn't NY State's now above 12%?

I wish the OP the best.

(What's the NY equivalent of Taxachussetts?)

https://www.retirementliving.com/tax...yoming#NEWYORK (8.82%, not 12%: https://files.taxfoundation.org/2018...on-FF576-1.pdf (page 3)

Again, it is likely due to higher pay.

OP, Are you still making the move? Or has the brutal reality of Albany hit you yet?

(It's 78 degrees in Carmel Indiana today and 47 in Albany according to the Times Union website.)

The cost of living is fairly low in Albany, NY. Stop with the histrionics.
