Bear Mountain is about 100 miles from Albany. People from Albany are generally not going to Bear Mountain. They have much better mountains closer to them.
Or try one of the sites that have ratings on them. Such as G*****, Y***,
The Bear Mountain Inn (at the base of the mountain) is pretty nice.
Bear Mountain is a decent climb (elev 1305' with a vertical over 1000'). Great views of the Hudson from there, and you can see the towers of NYC on a clear day.
My one complaint is that people can drive to the top.
Mount Beacon further north is another nice option. Both mountains draw lots of people.
