My wife and I will find ourselves in the area shortly after Christmas, but only for a night or two. We are mainly looking for bar/resteraunts, downtown kinda nightlife stuff, and general relaxing/sightseeing. Are there things to do in this area in the winter or should we just head into the Adirondacks, or find another area alltogether? A cozy, kind of old-town feel but with nightlife is the best way I can describe what we're looking for.

I live 15 mins. from Saratoga. You picked a great place to vacation. The nightlife in Saratoga is great. The restaurants are fantastic and are mostly within walking distance of most of the hotels. The Batchelor Mansion Inn is a great old B&B. Our daughter and hubby stayed there for their wedding night and loved it! Lillian's Restaurant in the heart of downtown has the best food! Also the Old Bryan Inn just outside the downtown area is the place to visit for a great meal. Just wander the streets for some great shopping in the quaint little "old world charm" store fronts. If you are into the mall scene...just drive east on Rt. 50 and you will run into the Wilton Mall and surrounding big box stores on "the strip". If you find you have some spare time..head north on I87 up to Exit 20 and turn left off the exit. You will be in the heart of the outlet stores just south of Lake George. Great deals can be found here!
Enjoy your visit.
