hello, i am looking to start a business in glens falls. my wife and i can do anything, and are interested in your ideas about what is lacking and what you would like to see started in the future.

i have contacted the chamber for business demographics and free counseling, but am just trying to get a feel for the area. any info on how the area within a 50 mile radius of glen falls has been doing lately (not from statistics, from your own on the ground observations) would be awesome. what kind of stores have opened recently, what kind have closed? what is the trend of people moving to the area?

thanks for your info! mike.

The trend is that vacationing downstate New Yorkers go further and further north every year IMO... I'd say the prospects are good.
There is way more tourism there than 10-15 years ago IMO.

yea that's what i have been hearing. i am looking to settle down and having a family after 7 years living out west. i am originally from long island, and would never consider living there again.

from what i have seen, a strong tourism industry will always lead to a boom in real estate, and glens falls seems like it is on the cusp of a growth spurt.
