Albuquerque has the worst drivers I've ever seen. My office looks out on I-25. I'm near an exit lane coming off the highway. You'll regularly see idiots drive from the access road, across the exit lane and gravel onto the highway.

I've never seen so many people drive below the speed limit in the far left lane and refuse to get over when traffic is backing up behind them.

You can't use a signal to change lanes here. If you signal, nine times out of ten, the person behind you will speed up to block you out.

When cycling, I've had people intentionally swerve towards me. Personally, I think the driving test should include an IQ test. Half this city's drivers would be off the road.

Definition of using your signal:

Tipping your hand.

If you use your signal, you have to be prepared
to beat the guy/gal who's going to cut you off.

If you don't have a powerful car, you will need to plan to
move right behind the guy/gal who's going to cut you off.
Changing lanes becomes an exercise in strategic braking.

I am glad to know that, once again, it's not me - the driving behaviors of others really ARE annoying.

When I get tired of the drivers in Santa Fe, I go to Albuquerque. Then I thank God I live in Santa Fe!

Funny. I was thinking much the opposite.

But then again I consider driving the speed limit or higher and going when the light turns green positive qualities in drivers.

If I'm first, just TRY to keep up.

Don't you have an electric truck?
How does that electric truck do off-the-line?

Bad stuff: __ it's a truck so has poor traction.
Good.....: __ instant 100% torque that beats anything to 10-20 mph.

Its traction is actually pretty good, since it weighs so darn much (literally a ton of lead to lug around).

It'll give most vehicles a run for their money in the first 15mph or so off the line (and how if it's on a hill), but sudden acceleration is very bad for the battery pack in the long term, so I don't do too much of that; freeway acceleration >50 hits it harder though.

Unfortunately driving it gets you into that "Prius mindset" where you enjoy listening to the things other drivers can't hear, relishing the regenerative brakes, and conserving every last kWh.

So I drive my gas-powered sports car when I'm not commuting.

Too much amps too fast? I didn't know that.

Since that Tesla sportster is marketed as a fast car, I wonder
if they deal with that in some way or just accept that the
batteries will not last as long as in a Prius.

I'm generally in the "hypermiler mindset," so I can relate there
( unless I'm first at a stop light ).

You custom-built that too? Cool.
