I agree with a lot of the cyclist posters -- as a cyclist that obeys the traffic laws, it angers me to see so many bad apples out there giving us a bad name. Drivers disobey all the same laws so they shouldn't feel like saints either, but the difference is that a lot of motorists are already annoyed by cyclists as it is and we are in the limelight. We insist on being treated as a vehicle and yet there are several that refuse to obey the laws like they are a vehicle. It's a big shame and I wish police would ticket more cyclists and drivers alike.
There is also the issue of etiquette when passing pedestrians on the paths.
I carry an egg-sized rock with me and I'm going to try to bean the next bicyclist
jerk that passes me without warning at full speed an inch or so from my arm.
( assuming that it is clear to do so without risking injury to others )
ALL Bicyclists are potential hood ornaments in New Mexico.
Your own safety is your #1 priority!
You can't argue in court about a 'bad' driver hitting me.....from the grave.
Every close call I've had with cyclists involved them riding out in front of me when they didn't have the right of way and didn't see my bright yellow car coming at the speed limit.
No bicyclist deserves to die for riding like an idiot, but I'm amazed how many disregard the laws of physics when they ride. No matter who is right, the car wins in a collision.
I will admit that I have hit three different moonwalking bears. They blend in so well...
