Moving to the south? (Albuquerque: 2014, to rent, high school)

My husband was offered a job near Albuquerque today, it will be a huge change. What are some things that would be good to know about the area? We would be coming from MN, if he excepts the job.

Well, Albuquerque and New Mexico are part of the Southwest. A lot of questions come up.

A lot could be asked like Do you have children, are you going to rent or buy, etc.

We have elementary and high school aged kids and we will rent for a while, we need to check out the area before making a more permanent decision.
