I am hoping someone can answer these questions. After all of the research I've done, these are things that I am having a hard time finding out honest answers to.

What are the different taxes like? (including income, property, and sales tax)

What is Mayor Richard Berry planning and actually acting on?

What are the laws concerning guns and marijuana?

Does the city keep the roads nice?

Are there trash cans around the city or just a lot of trash on the ground?

Is the water utility expensive since there is not much water around?

What is the service industry like there? Anyone who has worked in rests/bars in any other city, how is the money in comparison in this city? Are the business' busy all year round or only during a certain time of year?

I'm sure there are plenty more questions that I will need answered before I move there in 2 months, but this is all I can think of right now. I know that some of these questions might have been asked in older threads, but I'm trying to get the most updated answer. Thank you!

It is not a simple answer, the city council also has a large effect: Read up:

Most updated? A lot of information stays the same. I suggest you start here //www.city-data.com/forum/albuquerque/ and scoll down through the topic titles.

Gross receipts tax is 7%. Impossible to tell you about the other taxes because so many different factors involved.

Marijuana is not legal here.

I think the roads are very nice. But that's subjective and I came from Michigan (horrible roads there!)

Trash doesn't seem to be a problem. The city keeps things fairly clean.

Again, whether water is "expensive" is very subjective. I find the water here to be very cheap, considering the scarcity. But then again, we don't have grass or a pool.
