Thanks for the allergy alerts, but doesn't the dry environment provide a benefit for sufferers? I would say dust mites are my worst allergy and it's an all year thing. My reaction to being tested for dust mites scared everyone in the allergist's office.

The dry air is good for preventing dust mites and molds, but it also irritates nasal passages and can make allergies worse. My sinus allergies have gotten much worse since moving here. This is why a humidifier is prescribed for many people with allergy and sinus problems.

From webmd: "Keeping indoor humidity low helps control dust mites, which thrive in moist, warm air. But too-dry air can irritate nasal passages and make allergy symptoms worse. Strike a balance by keeping the humidity in your home between 30%-50%."

I've had 2 pharmacists tell me that part of problem out here is in the dry air, the pollen stays airborne longer, therefore more potential for aggravation. Don't know if they're right but it sounds logical.

Thanks, noted. Any new climate requires a few adjustments. I mind this a lot less than excess humidity. Last winter the NE was buried in cold and snow. I'm a weather wuss, pretty much.
