Wouldn't it just be easier to say that the population will explode?
All that other stuff is just a symptom.

The Phoenix metro area and the Albuquerque metro area were approximately the same size 60 years ago in about 1950.

However, the Phoenix metro area includes a number of suburbs that are not present in Albuquerque which has only one of note.

The Phoenix metro area passed 1 million people in 1970 - almost 40 years ago.
Phoenix city did that sometime just after 1990.
Just Tempe, Mesa, and Chandler are about the same size as all of Albuquerque (about 175k + 450k + 240k).

Supposedly, Albuquerque will do that in 3-5 years - depending on rybert or bradly or one of those guys making the announcement.

Oh we're actively trying to waste our money on a similar system as we speak.
We call it the "troll-frikkin'-lee"

I said it *would* be you ( or bradly ).

When the time's right, of course. Only when it's right.

Interesting factoids. Good thing that Albuq didn't keep up, too.

The city's saving graces:

1. Further from CA.
2. Cold[er] winters, which repel [many] retirees.

Hi Mort, I've seen these numbers too. Those projections were based on the 2000 census. The numbers being reported in this thread are based on 2009 Population Estimates. NM and ABQ definitely grew faster between 2000 and 2009 than the US Census Bureau had thought.
