Since I lost my job I've been buying handles of Evan Williams. For $16! It satisfies, but I miss my Knob Creek.

All of the above. Bulleit and Buffalo Trace are my standby bourbons.

We tried Bulleit but it has a flavor that we can't quite finger, but doesn't sit well with our palate. Is the Woodford more like the Maker's Mark or the Bulleit?

Maker's Mark, Woodford Reserve, and Bulleit are all good choices.

Where do you buy these for under $30.? We drink Kentucky Tavern for $15. since we mostly make Manhattans.

Mixing whiskey has a lot more latitude.

Buffalo Trace($24ish), Elijah Craig 12 Year($24ish), Evan Williams 10 Year($24ish and Old Gran Dad 114 ($28). Out of all of them I would say Buffalo Trace is my personal fav.

Larceny is a very good wheated bourbon and a very good value too. It is similar to Maker's Mark. Personally, I like it just as much if not a bit more. You can usually grab a bottle for around $20. Also Barton's Very Old is a real bargain at around $12.

Default Are any bourbon like whiskies made outside of the USA?

I have heard that only whiskey made in the USA can be legally sold as bourbon. However, how exactly is this rule even enforced? What is stopping someone outside the US from making their own bourbon whiskey? Is there something about it which means it can only be made in the US for some reason?
