Best beer/ale in America comes from the many excellent micro breweries throughout the county. Even little ol' Asheville has 5 or 6 micro breweries, but my favorite of the locals is Highland Brewing.

There is a store in Asheville that sells nothing but beer/ale, hundreds and hundreds of brands and brews. Bruisin' Ales Grocery stores also offer a large selection, and allow you to pick and choose singles to create a mixed six pack. I try to bring home something different every trip.

National brands? A cold Bud is fine when I come in from mowing the grass or similar.

I have to agree. My personal favorites come from American microbreweries.

I agree on Stella Artois. But if you can try this 2 Belgian beers - Hoegaarden a wheat beer and Leffe Blonde - Lager

And you call yourself a Brit??

It's England folks. Their food is pathetic but their beer is unsurpassed.

Guinness, please.....it's OK but by FAR the most hyped, overrated beer ever. Tastes like water.

US does have some great microbrews but they vary a lot and we have a lot of bad beer too. I've never had a bad English beer.

I'd say Canada. I love Molson Golden (not to be confused with Molson Ice) but alot of other countries have similiar tasting beers like Germany (Becks).Heineken tastes similiar too, also Moosehead.
