I've been plagued with severe post nasal drip for years. In the Spring, it is really horrible. I spend hours each day blowing my nose and going through boxes and boxes of tissues.

I have tried netti pots, saline nasal spay, antacids, - OTC and persecution, raising the head of my bed, cutting out dairy, wheat, and soy.

The usual.

Now I am willing to eat only fruits and vegetables - if that is what it takes - to get rid of this curse.

Any suggestions? Any good books you can recommend?

As of today I am drinking a gallon of water per day and I have started taking grape seed extract.

Try taking Zyrtec and using Flonase. Zyrtec dries up mucus better than any of the other non drowsy antihistamines.

I don't think that eating only fruits and vegetables is a good idea. Have you seen an allergist?

Its an allergy issue - and given the Spring excacerbation, most likely tree pollen is the culprit for worsening it. Zyrtec or equivalent during this season will have more effect than changing diet. Your diet cannot stop the tree pollen entering your nasal passages - so you need to attack the response and reduce it. Once a day for two to three weeks.

Cow's milk for sure, no no re: mucus. I don't drink it for years. If you need milk, coconut, almond, rice are good choices....I drink coconut creamer in my coffee and on oatmeal if I make it.

For me, grape seed extract has been a life saver for 22 yrs re: allergies etc....plus much much more..May prevent cancer we're told. I've posted a LOT about this antioxidant since I joined CD. J

Oh, I see you started grape seed ex....GOOD.

I told so many in the rehabs about grape seed, even the wound doctor who came around to patients, he was always sniffling.....he said he'll get it. I'll never know, but it's up to him..

I use almond and coconut milk when I use milk. I absolutely can not drink coffee. It triggers a coughing event, caused a copious amount post nasal drip.

This is my second day taking grape seed supplements. I am taking 200mgs. per day of Grapeseed Rich brand. They are manufactured in Canada and distributed by Natural Factors, in Washington State.

So far, there is a slight improvement, but not that much. I am also drinking approximately one gallon of water a day.

Other than fruits and vegetables, what are other foods that will help me cleans my self? What else should I avoid? Thanks!

I have used both, Hedgehog_Mom. They don't help very much. - But thanks for the suggestion!

I've seen around 20 different allergists, gastrointestinal specialists, and ear nose and throat doctors.
They can not find any thing wrong - except a mildly deviated nasal septum, and possible GERD.

The doctors and The Cleveland Clinic tested me for possible allergies - and I was not allergic to anything.

It's so frustrating.

You've done your share of allergists, WOW. I was seeing one allergist back before I found grape seed ex and he did NOTHING, take my money and push drugs.

You might want to do a loading dose of grape seed....one day take 200mg then next day 400mg etc...do that for a while. When there is a chronic issue, loading doses are recommended.

The brand you take is good, natural factors is a good company.

Give it TIME.

When I first started back in 1995, I was taking pycnogenol for 1 yr then found grape seed extract and it's less expensive. So it was pyc that cured allergy issues after 4 days. You might want to look at pyc and alternate them.

Thanks for the advice. I am also drinking Suja organic vinegar drinks.

I have been using NasalCrom spray ( NOT NasalCORT). Up to 4 times a day. It only works on the nose. I get it at a Walgreens or you can order online. Much cheaper than Flonase. You can search it on-line. Fewer side effects than the other sprays. Worth a try...

It is now 4/29. Eleven days since I first posted. I have eliminated dairy from my diet. Completely. And began drinking more water - with ginger and cayenne pepper. Something I found out about on my own.

MOST IMPORTANT - I have added 300mgs. per day of Grape Seed Extract. I am almost symptom free!

That stuff is magic. I am sure of it.
